I'm not exactly known for my patience.

And yet,

Occasionally, the right meeting with the right person outranks even the most carefully calibrated calendar.

The best leaders, it seems, know exactly when to stick rigidly to schedule and when to allow a bit of flexibility for brilliance to arrive on its own timeline.

It's not about lowering standards. It's about when that brief delay might prevent a misstep. That's the equivalent of knowing precisely when to ease off the throttle in challenging conditions.

Not every latecomer deserves your patience. Most should be held to proper standards. But for those few who consistently deliver exceptional value? Perhaps the rules can bend, just a bit.

When has waiting for the right person actually improved your business outcomes?
